"Do Seek Their Meat from God"

The Significance of the title in "Do Seek Their meat from God" a short fiction by Charles G.D. Roberts is that it is a allusion to a section in the bible. In Psalm 104:21 "the young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God." To roar means to seek or pray for what you desire, so for the lions it would be the meat; however, according to the Psalm, just to seek for your desires isn't enough. It must be gained/earned from God. They roar but never truly seek, which means they desire, but they never truly earn it from God. The title is related to the story because both the settler and the panthers had their offspring to care for and feed. They, also, were both willing to kill other in order to keep themselves and the child/cubs alive. Neither one acts of malice, but simply necessity.
